For the next couple of days, I plan to chronicle my efforts to find self-care in other ways than what is typically in "self-care" articles.
Usually, these "self-care" articles go something like this: do your makeup, get a haircut, paint your nails. I think these can make you feel better and can lead to time for yourself, but they don't really care for your mind. (These are still really important though if they make you feel better- but I find even with my nails done and my hair washed, I can still feel pretty bad about myself at times)

| These kinds of images are common- but focus a lot on the outside and not nourishing your mind as much. |
This is my way of trying to be both politically conscious and nourishing to my mind:
I am going to take incremental breaks from my phone and screens for 15 minute increments of time. Today it will be 15 minutes, tomorrow it will be 30, and so on.
I will pair this with either a walk in nature, painting, or listening to music- whatever I think will best nourish my mind. My hope is that with these breaks, I connect more with myself and less with my screen. I hope you can join along with me!

I am obsessed with this blog. The aesthetic for one is so nice and the articles - even just reading them is calming. Hearing your own personal stories with self care makes it seem easier to do it myself.
